Device-vocabulary orientation, as the Simulator's own Device > Orientation
menu spells it: rotating the device left is landscape_left. UIKit's
interface names are the mirror of these for the two landscapes; the
crossing is handled once, in simulator.ts's HID_ORIENTATION, and never
escapes.
Deliberately notax/orientation.ts's Orientation, which carries an
extra "auto" (DECISIONS.md #3). That one is the handle's internal
unset-hint state, resolved by getEffectiveOrientation at every boundary; it
never crosses the API. Open per DECISIONS.md #2, for the same reason
SimulatorState is — and because face-up and face-down may be worth
supporting later.
